Operation Safe Holiday Kickoff in Area 1

Area One´s Operation Safe Holiday enforcement kicked off with a November 19 event on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. PennDOT, the Philadelphia Police Department, University of Pennsylvania Police Department and the PA DUI Association were in attendance.

Seat Belt Challenge Needs Bucks County Officers

Bucks County has conducted seat belt challenges at area high schools for the past three years. This school year the program will further expand to include many more high schools throughout the county. The seat belt challenge involves schools receiving the Survival 101 education program for High Schools and presents awards to the high schools who have the greatest increase in seat belt usage and the school with the highest seat belt usage rate. Last year´s winner was Villa Joseph Marie High School located in Holland PA.

The seat belt challenge was started in Bucks County by Bob Johns, Community Traffic Safety Coordinator, and has now spread to different areas of the state.Due to the increase in the number of schools participating, Buckle Up PA is requesting that officers from the municipalities in the county present the program at the schools. School Districts that are participating include, but are not limited to, Bristol Township Schools, Pennsbury School District, Council Rock School District, Central Bucks School District, and several Catholic High Schools. Please contact LEL Gordon Beck if you are able to complete any programs at these school districts. If you need training in the programs contact LEL Beck to arrange training.

Traffic Safety Checkpoint in Springfield

A traffic safety checkpoint was held on SR 320 (Sproul Rd) in Springfield Twp., Delaware County. The June 3 event conducted by Marple Twp. PD was part of the May Click It or Ticket mobilization.

Survival 101 at Henderson HS

A Survival 101 class was held at Henderson High School, West Chester School District. Cpl. Travis Lee of the West Chester Borough PD, Chester County was the presenter.
